SSR Selfie is an activity to help people with their summarising skills and ideas of a text to retell a story.
I completed my SSR Selfie on a book called 'Slime' by David Walliams
I am a Year 7 student at Panmure Bridge School in Auckland, NZ. I am in Learning Space 2 and my teachers are Mrs Anderson and Mrs Fisi'iahi.

Basic facts boxes
Basic Facts Boxes is an activity that challenges peoples maths skills and how quickly they can solve equations using all four operations.
I completed my Basic Facts Boxes activity up to 10 on addition. I completed five boxes for each in 2 minutes and 57 seconds. Here is proof:
I think I can go up to 15 or 20 next time, but this activity was challenging
LI: to remember basic maths facts.

Maths
Time is when an event is happening.
There are different ways to measure units of time. Some examples of my maths is down below
Singing a song has different tempos/speed depending on how fast or slow someones singing it. Washing your hands mostly take about 20 seconds.
The pendulum clock is a clock that uses a pendulum, a swinging weight, as it is a timekeeping element.
The advantage of a pendulum is that it swings back and forth at a precise time interval dependent on its length, and resists swinging at other rates.

Character Description | Writing
LI- To write a character description.
Maleficent is a nasty witch who flies around casting spells on people. She is as slim as a stick with long black hair as dark as a shadow and eyes that are emerald green. She speaks very elegantly and she likes to wear long black dresses and dark red lipstick. She comes from an enchanted magical forest called The Moors. The only family she has is her friend Diablo and Aurora, her adoptive daughter. Her biggest achievement is raising a child who isn’t hers and also learning how to love.

Reading
This week we learned to summarise.
We also needed to link our character trait and story web to help us.
I used my visualisation from week 1 to help seperate parts of the story.
I used my character inference traits to use adjectives and evidence to help me summarise in different parts.
Using good adjectives unlocks meaningful information, and I can summarise quicker.
Connecting all 3 strategies helped me to understand the story, character and keywords.

I liked doing this activity because it shows what you understand and it also makes your brain think a lot

Clocks
There are 3 kinds of ways or strategies you can use to explain time, 24 hours, digital and analogue.
In 24 hours after 1:00 PM it starts with 13 and goes up to 23. In the 24 hour clock there is AM and PM, the hour comes first, then the minutes, and next the seconds. Using AM looks like: 9:30, so it often starts with 0.
In Analogue if the minute hand points at 6 it means 30 minutes has passed, if it is pointing at the 9 45 minutes has passed, analogue can tell how many minutes has or have passed.
In digital time we often read in o'clock, it is also easy to read digital time because we can just read through the numbers!

I started a comment thread on Akifa's blogpost about. Her blogpost was very well detailed and gave a lot of information about metaphors.

Reading
For this weeks reading, I did a re-tell which is visualisation and fact or opinion
The re-tell is where I had to draw what I have read in the book. It's also to show what I understand about the book.
